LA Fashion week kicks off with a green hue
The LA fashion week has always been different from the regular "run of the mill" fashion weeks and is hallmarked by a kick off that is always stunning and unique. This show presents the talents of many newcomers and gives an opportunity to them to market their expertise. During the LA fashion week this time, the theme that was chosen for this noted kick off event was eco fashion. The "Fresh Faces" event that is generally conducted a night before the main event starts put the spotlight on green and eco fashion this time.
During this eco fashion showcase event, actress and host for the evening Maggie Gyllenhaal presented the new fashion designers - Velvet Leaf, Brigid Catiis, Popomomo and The Batallion at the Petersen Automotive Museum. While Leaf presented short dresses with bold geometric designs, the dresses designed by Catiis were made from renewed vintage fabric material. Popomomo took the crowd by storm with the spring collection that had unique cuts. The organic and natural fabric that was used was also treated in a unique and unconventional manner.
While all the dresses that were presented were mesmerizing and brought to light the fact that eco apparels can be extremely fashionable and trendy, the star of the evening was Batallion's collection that was conceptualized with bamboo and organic cotton. Called Harmony, this collection was offset with a lot of flounces and color.
